*Please note The Ballance House is closed to visitors until April 2021*

Ballance House is a restored farmhouse housing an exhibition on Ulster - New Zealand links in relation to John Ballance, the premier of the country from 1891 - 1893.

A man ahead of his time, he was instrumental in New Zealand for championing the likes of Maori rights and the women's vote - which was a successful campaign resulting in the first of its kind in the world. The House hosts a number of events and craft markets throughout the year and offers guided tours to groups by appointment and to the public during published opening hours.

The Museum display includes exhibits on Ballance's life and career, Maori culture and the Ulster-New Zealand connection.

Within the Museum there is also an extensive collection of literature, including travel and historical topics - all visitors are welcome to browse.
