The village is another Georgian architectural masterpiece and is a record-breaking winner of ‘Britain in Bloom’ Awards.  Every shop, house, courtyard and archway of this lovely little country village is festooned with colour.

Moira Demesne has over 40 acres of parkland with beautiful walks, picnic sites and a children’s play area and was recently upgraded with the construction of new pathways and walkways.   

Sir Arthur Rawdon MP (1662-1695) laid out the demesne with trees and exotic plants from Jamaica.  He also built the first hothouse in Europe which was erected in the grounds of Moira Castle.  Now both it and the Castle are known only to the pages of history.

In the literary field it can claim a connection to the poet W. B. Yeats, whose grandfather and namesake was the Curate at the parish church of St John’s in the village.
